Shout out to IBM and its Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) SaaS solution for successfully achieving ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018 certifications!
As ISO Certification goes, ISO 27001 is the only auditable international standard for data security best practices. The 27001 standard is also one of the few standards to incorporate a top-down, risk-based methodology for evaluation. Relatedly, ISO 27017 and 27018 are specific controls for cloud-based service organizations that store and process client data containing sensitive or personally identifiable information.
For ELM SaaS, these ISO certifications and other data security best practices provide a more well-managed and verifiable approach to risk as well as compliance and governance. They also mean far better safeguards for clients’ data.
To achieve ISO Certification, a service such as ELM SaaS must demonstrate an ongoing, systematic approach to managing and protecting data for customers. The approach must then be validated by an independent audit firm, and ISO Certification is awarded for three years. However, to keep strengthening its data security posture for ISO best practices,IBM says it will re-qualify ELM SaaS for ISO 27001 each year over its 3-year certification period.
The process is a rigorous one to be sure. And any service holding the ISO 27001, 27017, 27018 certification triumvirate is to be regarded for providing the highest level of security — and trust.
ClearObject, which already has these same ISO certifications for our development, services, and data security environment, was an integral supporter in assisting IBM to obtain their ISO status for ELM SaaS.
Combining for even greater data security
For the IBM development tools you use — ELM SaaS included — ClearObject specializes in migrating, deploying, and managing them in the cloud for you with our ClearObject Engineering Cloud managed services.
